Safety Director/Supervisor

Charles Franks has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry and has been an employee at MIDA since 2014.  Charles started working for MIDA as a Millwright operating a wide variety of heavy machinery (boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts) and tools (torching, grinding, and blasting).  On January 2015 he was promoted to Millwright Foreman in which he was trained on fall protection, respirators, scissor lift and boom lift operations, he took responsibility for workers safety and quality of work, providing toolbox meetings three times a week.  This gave him the ability to correct any improper use of tools or act of workers while using equipment.  On April 2016 Charles became a Supervisor at MIDA for general industries.  He was responsible for overseeing several projects from start to completion in different types of environments providing safety meetings, checking personal protection equipment on employees and covering JHA’s daily and making sure employees understood them.  February 2018 Charles was promoted as a Safety Director in which he became OSHA certified, therefore helping him understand federal and state regulations.  He carries the following certifications under the OSHA Trainer Courses for Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry & General Industry; #500, 510, 501 & 511 in addition he is certified under the 40 hour Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response), he is a Qualified Rigger & trained in 40K Blasting.  He has great leadership and supervisory skills.  He has been working closely with all corporate and management staff in helping develop effective safety programs, monitor safety compliance and reporting safety issues and progress to superiors before they occur.  He has been able to identify potential hazards and recommend solutions to prevent them from reoccurring.  He is responsible for inspecting the environment and equipment, in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulation and industry standards. He supports our plant personnel in the selection of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and also maintains and updates our corporate Injury Illness Prevention Program with training videos, new regulations and reference manuals.  He has implemented reports such as employee trainings, certifications, equipment maintenance, and injuries/illnesses.  All his years of experience has provided him with deep and wide ranging knowledge of the industry.  Overall he promotes safety and health awareness, helping MIDA Industries, Inc. with their goal of protecting its employees, customers and the environment.
